Rock Identifier ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and share your personal information when you use our mobile application ("App"), available on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.

Information We Collect

• User Images: Photos you capture using the in-app camera or upload from your device's gallery for rock identification. These images are sent securely to our server for processing and identification, and are deleted shortly after processing is complete.
• Chat Messages: Text messages you send to our AI chat feature when asking questions about rocks, minerals, and geology. These messages are processed to provide you with relevant information and are deleted shortly after processing is complete.
• Camera Access: The app requires camera permission to allow you to take photos of rocks for identification. We do not access your camera for any other purpose, and no images are captured without your explicit action.
• Device Information: Non-personally identifiable data such as device model, OS version, and app usage statistics for analytics and crash reporting.
• Purchase Data: Subscription status and purchase history are managed via RevenueCat to enable Pro features.

How We Use Your Information

• To identify rocks and stones from uploaded or captured images and provide detailed information about their properties.
• To provide AI-powered responses to your questions about rocks, minerals, geology, and related topics.
• To provide and manage in-app purchases and subscriptions.
• To improve user experience through analytics and crash logs.
• To enhance our service quality and add new rock identification capabilities.

Data Retention

We do not store your images or chat messages permanently. They are processed in real-time and deleted shortly afterward. Identification results are delivered to your device and not retained on our servers unless you choose to save them locally on your device. Subscription and analytics data may be retained as required by our service providers (e.g., RevenueCat, analytics tools).

Third-Party Services

We use trusted third-party services that may collect limited data as required to provide their functionality:

• OpenAI – for rock identification and AI chat functionality
• RevenueCat – for subscription management (if applicable)
• Google/Firebase & Apple – for app store services, analytics, and cloud infrastructure

These third-party services operate under their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review their privacy practices.

Children's Privacy

The App is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such data, please contact us immediately.

Your Rights

You may request deletion of any data we retain (e.g., purchase or analytics data), subject to platform limitations. Since prompts and images are automatically deleted after processing, there is typically no personal content data to delete. Contact us at mailgigantic@gmail.com for assistance.

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect your data, including encryption during transmission and secure processing of all images and messages. However, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes within the app or by updating this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
